[When he made mention of Sehanine, Nepione turned her attention from the ever distant fortress onto the vampire spawn at her side instead. It seemed wisest to take just about everything he said with a grain of salt, but what made that most difficult was that sometimes she wanted to believe him when he spoke. Except she couldn't, because she could never tell what was truth and what was carefully-constructed falsehood dripping from a tongue that was far too charismatic for his own good.
The moment he mentioned his family, she felt that same feeling again. She didn't know anything about his family and to date, she hadn't really spoken about families with anyone, including her own, which was just fine, as far as she was concerned. Talking about the past, getting wrapped up in it, none of that was going to help them move forward in the now, as it were. She had no qualms about not sharing or prying others for that kind of information.
It seemed a little strange that he was so willing to offer that to her. About as strange as any of his other glowing remarks, though.]

She watched him move down and hesitating for just a moment, she dipped down, set her hand in his and used that hold, precarious as it was, to help herself the rest of the way. And just as she always had been, she was careful she didn't grip too hard or too long, as ever mindful of the claws that she could not hide.]
