[She cringed. Hurting Astarion wasn't really a part of the plan, but she knew that if she was louder than she had to be, it'd attract attention in her direction, which ultimately only would have made things more difficult for him. Considering their current location, they had limited options on where they could get to. Well, she did. Astarion could have made a mad dash for it and likely would have been just fine.
She had to trust that she hadn't gotten him in the crossfire, but imagined there were going to be more than a few apologies she passed in his direction after all was said and done. She also made a note that late night excursions with Astarion, much less anyone else, were entirely out of the question. It was difficult enough with four. Having only two felt... not impossible, but the kind of challenge that Nepione didn't want.
Perhaps that was simply cowardice.
Peeking out from her little place of shelter to get a better look at Astarion, she resisted the temptation to actually unveil herself.]
I can take a few from here. [She rose her voice just enough for him to hear. No sense in completely hiding and maybe they wouldn't find her regardless. Or at least, they might not have found her easily, which really seemed like the bigger priority here. She could buy Astarion time or play distraction. Dangerous manoeuvres, but certainly not out of the realm of possibility.] But I can only do one at a time.
[She wanted to say he should have been all right, but she wasn't in the market of dealing false promises. In fact, she didn't much like promises at all.]
I will wait until you're open.
[Because that way, she wouldn't have caught him unawares again. So she kept herself ready and braced, attentive to his swift and sly movements. For all that Astarion looked terribly soft and delicate, almost doll-like, when he moved, he was so precise that had they been on opposite sides, she'd had plenty to fear from him.]
